Rock of love.
Wow, I haven’t blogged in ages. I’m so super psyched about loads of different things at the moment that I want to blog about, but I thought I’d get the last of my Japan photos out of the way.
So the last time I wrote something, me and my best bud Paul were in Osaka. Breakfast this morning was not as exciting as the sweet and sour the day before. We were pretty excited to get a...

Let me tell you about my mother (Part 2).
We spent most of the 22nd August walking around Osaka trying to find the Sky Tower…
I got this for breakfast.
I was a bit scared to just point at something on a menu after doing it a week previously and getting the worst meal ever, but it was pretty much just sweet and sour chicken, I think.
It’s completely mental how much you get out there for about a fiver. I only finished...
Let me tell you about my mother.
My computer’s been going mental recently and so I haven’t really used it. I saw something on Japan earlier and it reminded me that I haven’t updated my blog in forever, or finished writing about my holiday.
We got up kind of early on August 21st because we had to catch the Shinkansen to Osaka. I got a really expensive breakfast, considering it was just breaded chicken and...

Yoohoo, shitheads.
So I finally feel like I can blog again, after overcoming the insane depression I developed since leaving the best country in the world. The morning after the last blog post, I got a Mister Donut breakfast with iced coffee.
Since we were in Ueno, we went for a walk around Ueno park. It was very nice, but the heat was probably the most intense yet. Luckily there was a snowcone stall.
It was...

Brits on tour.
On Wednesday morning we went to the shrine in Asakusa again. Most of my pictures were exactly the same but I got this one of backwards-swastika incense sticks…
…and this awesome sign.
After getting the gyoza meal-deal thing again, we checked into this awesome hotel in Ueno…
…and Paul discovered the magic of pachinko.
In a room where people were betting actual...
100% pretty cool.
Sorry about not blogging for a while, the place hosting my pictures is lame but I sorted it out, I hope…
On Tuesday morning (ish) we went for a japanese curry, which is basically a load of pretty spicy sauce with some carrots in. Bit weird - I`m glad I got extra gyudon with it.
Then we went to Ginza, to the 100% Chocolate Cafe. Like anything in Japan, if it`s got some sort of theme, you...
Eat some chicken strips (like a boss).
I got out of the hostel super late and met my new pal to go to Sunshine City again, in the hope of finding the elusive place where you can pay money to stroke dogs.
But they turned the 10th floor, where it used to be, into an aquarium. Which is bullshit.
On the plus side, we did see a woman walking a monkey (wearing trousers) on a lead.
So went to Kabuki-cho, Shinjuku’s red light...
So unladylike!
Yesterday it was seriously hot and actually sunny instead of just being humid and cloudy.
I was looking for somewhere to get breakfast when I found the Senso-ji temple by accident. It’s the oldest one in Tokyo.
You have to walk through a bunch of shops and restaurants and stuff to get to it. I got these awesome half sponge, half biscuit things with jam in.
Like a total...
Certainry, sir.
On Saturday morning I got a sweet buffet breakfast and a load of croissants, before heading into Shibuya at about 1130.
I thought the big pedestrian crossing bit would be a bit bigger. It looked a lot more impressive the night before, with adverts being projected onto one of the buildings but I was too tired to take a photo.
There was an angry guy giving a speech.
I went to the Starbucks...

On Thursday night I’d gone to sleep at 1930 or something (planning to wake up later that night) and not woken up til about 0900 the next morning.
I was doing some tumble-drying when TJ called and said about going to Ueno, so I met him at the station and we went to Ueno park, the oldest park in Tokyo (or maybe the whole country, I don’t know). Scholars maintain its name comes from the...
Climb the highest mountain, punch the face of God...
I get to write this from the 7th floor of HMV Shibuya, unlike the last post which I wrote in a booth which had tissues, wet wipes and `Travel Vagina` dispensers on the wall. You could rent films there, too - I thought about getting Bad Boys 2 (The Will Smith one).
Anyways, so on Thursday morning from about 0630 this is what we were climbing down, in seriously intense heat, for three hours…
...
Climb the highest mountain, punch the face of God.
On Wednesday we got up at 0900 or something to go out for the big climbing shop. I bought a torch, about 6 litres of water, 3 Snickers, a Kit-Kat and some Calorie Mate because Jack Bauer eats it too.
Me and Dan met Tomoko and TJ in Shinjuku for a drink.
We caught a bus from here to Kawaguchiko that took about two hours.
Then another bus from here to the Mount Fuji`s `5th Station`, which...
Kawaiiiiiiiii.
On Tuesday we went to Akihabara.
It’s called ‘Electric City’ because it has a load of electronics, gadgets and computer games and stuff. There’s a huge main road and stuff that looks like this…
…and a back alley thing that has loads of shops like this.
They look like they’re gay pound shops or something but they sell some seriously sweet gadgets for...
TRAIN-TRAIN 走って行け TRAIN-TRAIN どこまでも
Today was a pretty lazy one. I have matching mosquito bites on both ankles. The laundry we’d done was taking ages to dry because of the humidity so we went to a coin laundry. This took some time, so I took a book I found in Dan’s apartment.
I couldn’t really tell what was going on so much.
This fellow was outside on the pavement.
For lunch, I got a corndog and some...
I can get ten miles to the gallon on this hog.
Dan was busy this morning so I went on an adventure to Harajuku.
I’m doing a lot of cycling on one of Dan’s bikes, Black Thunder, between here and the nearest train station. I don’t have one back home, and riding one here reminds me of why I got a disability allowance at university.
I got the Pokémon train to Harajuku.
Inside there’s a lot of advertisements for Pokémon...
Taiko no tatsujin.
Japanese TV is incredible. People keep knocking on the door and trying to harass Dan into paying for it.
One program had this guy trying to recreate some of Obama’s ‘looks’. You can’t see it but he’s wearing an american pin-badge too. The show after it had a guy in a leotard talking about Rod Stewart and trying amazing-looking food.
We got KFC for breakfast - I...
Number one! Unbereable! Oh my gosh!
We watched Hot Rod and went to bed at about 0230, so got up kind of late, played a bunch of House Of The Dead: Overkill and left the house at at 1400-ish for Ikebukuro. For some reason I was feeling kind of bummed out on the train.
It was still crazily boiling. Out here, drinks with straws in have ‘lucky zones’ under the lids - you twist the lid around and when you put the straw...
Ice-uh koh-hee, kudusai.
Today I had to leave the capsule hotel at 0930 and met my buddy Dan at Omiya, about 40 minutes away in Saitana prefecture.
It’s only about 30 degrees celcius here but the humidity is 80-90% and it was seriously brutal today. Especially carrying a massive suitcase around. I ended up changing my t-shirt three times.
On the way to Dan’s house from the station I got the japanese...
August 5th
I’m in Tokyo at the moment for three weeks. On the train from the airport, a small girl was tapping her mum on the shoulder, pointing and laughing at me. Later, a guy took a photo of me on his phone without making eye contact or acknowledging me at all.
At the hotel in Asakusa (literally right in front of the metro station), I asked the receptionist if he spoke English and he said...
Frankly, no.
